Welcome to Twietenkieker - in Hamburg reisen

Hello, my name is Carsten Ruthe. I have a university degree in Geography and Urban Planning from the university of Hamburg. With the Twietenkieker-project, I am offering you a special way for travelling in Hamburg, either by foot or by bicycle. In small groups we will have a special look at the most interesting places in my city.

My program of city walks (Stadtrundgänge) includes multiple tours, for example through the city-center, the warehousecity (Speicherstadt), the scenic areas of Altona and Ottensen or through the famous quarter Blankenese above the river Elbe.

The duration of a City walk is about 2 h, and the price per person is 18 EUR. Minimum requirement for a City walk is 4 people in total.

Hamburg is also the perfect city for cycling! Due to my special knowledge as urban planner, I know the best routs for travelling. Travelling by bicycle allows us to visit larger areas of the city, but without loosing contact to the interesting details along the wayside, which you will miss for sure on a bus tour. The program of cycle tours (Stadtrundfahrten mit dem Rad) includes tours like "the middle of Hamburg" (Hamburgs Mitte), which combines the visit of the city centers of old Hamburg and of the previously Danish city of Altona. If you plan to participate in the tour "warehouse city and port" (Speicherstadt und Hafen), you will experience the old commercial district with the famous red composition of warehouses as well as parts of 700 year old port of Hamburg.

Hamburg is the city with the highest quality of living in Germany. If you join my bicycle tour "along the river Alster" (Hamburg liegt an der Alster), I promise you will understand why! Along the lake Outeralster (Außenalster) and further North along the small river Alster we are passing several of the most beautiful places in our city!

A bicycle tour usually takes about 3 hours, the price per person is 28 EUR and we should be at least 4 people in total for a tour. No bike? No problem! For my cycle tours, you can rent high-quality city-bikes from me for only 6 EUR/tour.
